About
My name is Michael Ricks and I’m an Animator/Motion Graphics Artist based in Austin, TX.
I graduated in 2008 from The University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Radio-Television-Film. I started out with a focus in Audio Post Production with a little bit of Video Editing thrown in, but after taking an Animation class with Geoff Marslett and then a Motion Graphics class with Arie Stavchansky, I knew what I wanted to do after I graduated. I interned at Shiny Object for about six months and have worked on a number of projects with them as a freelancer since then.
The two main software programs I use are After Effects and Cinema 4D.
I’m a pretty big nerd. My favorite movie is Star Wars and I enjoy playing video games (especially N64), and I watch way too much TV. I love music and have been playing drums since I was 10 years old.
Check out my Last.fm page to get a sense of what music I like to listen to, and check out the blog section of this site to get more of a sense of who I am. For random links and stuff I find funny or interesting, check out my Tumblr. And if you really want to be a stalker, follow me on Twitter.
